Es también una apuesta simbólica, una afrenta a la histórica intención de dominar las fuerzas caóticas de la fertilidad y la reproducción, los símbolos y diosas que permiten la para nada natural “naturalidad” de la organización social y económica actual. Gerda Lerner nos convoca a un recorrido por la antigua Mesopotamia, por Grecia y después por Roma, para tramar la historia de Occidente y en esa urdimbre iluminar las huellas arqueológicas, lingüísticas y antropológicas que constituyen el pasado de la opresión pero también de nuestra rebeldía. Un camino de nombres y teorías para cruzar la historia con el movimiento feminista. El final, la caída, esa imagen que ponemos por delante de nuestras acciones presupone una creación, un inicio, y si ese final se acercara, si es el final lo que estamos pisando, se dará inevitablemente en espejo con el inicio que la autora propone: la historia. Conocer y construir la historia es una forma de no estar nunca solas.

La creación del patriarcado entra en comunidad con lecturas actuales y pasadas, y contagia a la militancia del presente la pasión histórica y la energía feminista que parecen escribirse en líneas superpuestas: es una pasión entendida como invitación a todas las lectoras y lectores, las no academicas, las militantes, las apasionadas, las curiosas, las que creemos como Gerda Lerner que “una visión feminista del mundo conducirá a liberar a mujeres y hombres del pensamiento y las prácticas patriarcales”.

Gerda Lerner takes us on a journey through ancient Mesopotamia, through Greece and then through Rome, to trace the history of the West and in this warp illuminate the archaeological, linguistic and anthropological traces that constitute the past of oppression but also of our rebellion. A path of names and theories to cross history with the feminist movement. The end, the fall, that image that we put in front of our actions presupposes a creation, a beginning, and if that end is approaching, if it is the end that we are stepping on, it will inevitably mirror the beginning that the author proposes: history. Knowing and constructing history is a way of never being alone.

The creation of patriarchy enters into community with current and past readings, and infects the militancy of the present with historical passion and feminist energy that seem to be written in overlapping lines: it is a passion understood as an invitation to all readers, the non-academic, the militant, the passionate, the curious, those who believe like Gerda Lerner that “a feminist vision of the world will lead to liberating women and men from patriarchal thought and practices”.
